Purpose
The art industry benefits greatly from the Internet. Never
before has it been possible for artists to make their work
accessible to so large an audience for so little cost. At this
point in the evolution of the Internet, there are thousands of
unconnected Web sites featuring wildlife artists, the
galleries
that represent them and the companies, shows and museums that
publish and market their art.
The primary purpose of the Wildlife Art Network is to connect
these currently independent sites in a way that is dynamic and
flexible enough to keep up with the evolution of Internet
technology. This network will not only introduce members of
the industry to the art consuming public, but it will also be
the starting point of many business to business relationships
within the industry. In addition, it will give the artists and
companies that have not yet established a Web presence, a
starting point in Cyberspace.
Features
The Wildlife Art Network is designed to allow consumers to
search the network for artists and galleries. For example, a
consumer could search for an artist by subject and/or medium.
Likewise, a consumer could search for a gallery or publisher
by
location and/or featured artist.
The network has a user interface that allows each member to
customize their own page. This user interface provides members
with a convenient and easy way to keep their page interesting
and dynamic. Members receive a username and password that
allows
them to modify their personal information, as well as upload
images and text to their page from any computer with Internet
access.
Empowering each member of the network with the ability to
maintain their own content assures that the network will
evolve
dynamically and avoid the static, out-of-date condition found
in
most net based databases.
